Make Your Own Kind Of Music
This is a funny way to start a professional therapy blog. But I want to get off on the right foot - this space should feel more like my living room than my office. I want you to know there’s a real person behind this awesomely professional-looking site.
So let’s dive right in! I stumbled across a song this summer that made me cry in my kitchen. Make Your Own Kind of Music by Cass Elliot is from the album Mama’s Big Ones, which is just too good to require any comment. It’s so clearly written by someone who is familiar with the edges of mainstream life. Sure, there are difficulties. But what if we could stop apologizing for being different AND release the people who can’t travel with us?
There are times in life where you feel really seen. As a neurodivergent person navigating a sometimes ill-fitting world, this song was that moment for me.
